That’s right. I, Rachael Rodimel, have decided that it is time I start blogging again. We have been married for almost a year, and I cannot believe how fast the time has gone. I have decided that I need to get back into updating this thing so I will always have it to look back on. So much has happened in such a short year! We have had our first nephew, traveled, started our own business, made fun purchases, and got our own pets. I have not decided yet, I may do a couple posts about big events that have already passed this year or I may just start from here. Either way, be on the lookout for the Rodimel’s to be back in action!!

Our First Christmas Card

Well, it is that time of year! We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, spending lots of time with friends and family! We came home on Sunday afternoon, and our tree is already put together and decorated. I could not wait any longer! Now, the rest of the house is another story… there is still work to be done. I am trying to decide on a Christmas card and get them ordered. Who knew this could be so tough?! I mean, the first Rodimel Christmas card is a big deal around here. We have already decided that we will order through Shutterfly. Their cards are adorable, and they have so many to choose from. Plus, we have ordered photo books through them in the past and have loved them. (They are awesome about sending out specials, so get on their e-mail list!) Anyways, I think I like this one best. I love the simplicity of it, along with the truth of the greeting. We just got pictures taken this past weekend, so once we see them we will be able to decide! So, be looking for the Rodimel’s first Christmas card as a married couple in your mailbox soon. In the meantime, take time to slow down and enjoy your holiday season. The shopping, wrapping, planning, cooking, and traveling too often takes away from the season. We are all blessed for so many different reasons, but above all else, because our Savior was sent to save us from sin.

Catching Up… Again.

When we started this blog, we had high expectations. Once this blog got going, we I blamed the lack of commitment on being busy with school and wedding plans. When summer began, I blamed my continued lack of devotion on wedding plans. Well, spring semester, summer vacation and work, wedding plans, the wedding, the honeymoon, and moving into our apartment have all come and gone. I believe my husband, poor guy, sees this lacking, sparsely updated blog as a dilemma that needs to be solved. Guess what? That’s just in time for the school year to begin again. {Wow, where does the time go?} So, you will soon be seeing a
renovation to our site. Don’t worry, we will still have a blog (for those of you who like to know what we are up to), but it will not be on the main page of the site! There will be some sort of link to it, what that looks like will depend what Zach does with it!

Enough of that. What is life like now? So far, so good! We have moved into our apartment, and are all settled in! We both still tell each other everyday how blessed we are and that yes, this is real life. Our apartment is a two bedroom, one bath apartment. It is about 10 minutes from campus. After we searched and searched for apartments {with a pretty lofty wishlist}, we decided to give up location a little bit to have a lower price with more room. You would be amazed at what some of the apartments on campus cost! Anyways, we couldn’t be happier with our decision. For Zach, it was an easy adjustment. He’s always lived off campus. However, it’s been quite an adjustment for me. The past two years, I’ve woken up 15 minutes before class. Now, I have to wake up at least an hour before! And for those of you who know me well, this is QUITE a feat in the early morning. But, all drama aside, I have adjusted. Our location is more of the residential side of Lafayette. Wal-Mart, grocery stores, the bank, restaurants, the mall, etc. are all within five to ten minutes of us! The location definitely gives us more of the “married” feel than the “student” feel which is what we wanted! Be sure to check out the pictures of our place! We feel very at home, and we LOVE having weekend visitors … so just let us know when you are coming!

As I said before, school has started again. Zach loves all of his classes, once again. I love seeing how excited he gets about his “geeky, computer stuff.” I will say, there have been times that I’ve been a little envious of all that time he has to spend on the computer. What?! I just enjoy spending time with him! My classes are going well so far. The Lord knew what He was doing when He placed me in classes. This whole year is probably going to be the toughest of my undergrad nursing classes, but I absolutely adore my professors. They make waking up before 6am somewhat manageable. I have a med-surg clinical in Indianapolis at St. Vincent on Mondays, and I have a psych clinical at Logansport State Hospital on Fridays. I am looking forward to both experiences this semester. Zach is still doing web design for the College of Technology here at Purdue, and I am back at the Child Development Laboratory Preschool here on campus. I work with two-year-olds, and I love it! It is awesome to see the children learning and exploring new things and heartbreaking to see the trauma of mom leaving them for the afternoon. {No worries, it definitely does NOT make me want to have children anywhere in the near future!}

Life is good here at the Rodimel home. God continues to bless us daily, and we continue to need Him daily. We both feel we’ve adjusted to married life pretty well. There has been accounts of those hidden expectations popping up, but we’ve managed them pretty well. When you think about getting married, you think that you will get to spend plenty of time with that person as often as you would like. Weird how that is not the case at all. With busy class and work schedules, we are still adjusting to fitting in homework, friends, and time alone together. Zach has been awesome at being understanding and gentle with my crazy emotions and has dished out lots of compliments on every meal. Yes, even those chicken tenders and potato wedges! hehe. I am so blessed to have such a handsome, caring, God-loving man as my husband.

P.S. So far, so good on the cooking. I decided that I’m really not a bad cook, I just don’t know what to cook! So, if you have ideas for what to cook for dinner, will you PLEASE upload them to our recipes? Just go back to the home page and you will see a recipes tab at the top. We have already been using recipes that others have uploaded. It is really simple to put them in. If you do, thank you so much!!

Hope you have an awesome Labor Day Weekend. If you think about it, say a prayer for our sister Hannah. She is getting wisdom teeth out in the morning!

We’re Back!

First of all, thank you all SO much for making our wedding day so special! We both agree that we felt extremely loved and blessed all day long. Thank you for making it a perfect day loaded with lots of fun!

Okay, those of you who don’t know, I did not know where we were going on our honeymoon. Zach’s grandparents gave us the honeymoon as our wedding gift, and Zach planned the whole thing. It was a complete surprise for me! We ended up going to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. We stayed at The Ridge at Playa Grande Resort – if you want you can check it out here. We were supposed to fly out super early on Sunday morning, but we missed our flight. {We’re pretty good, huh?} So, we got the next flight to Atlanta and ended up spending the night in Atlanta and got to Cabo on Monday afternoon. It worked out just fine though, because we were exhausted all day Sunday anyways. Once we got to the resort, we were

pretty blown away! The shuttle we took from the airport took a while and made us both a little nervous about what our resort was going to be like. But WOW! Let me just say, my husband doesn’t mess around! It was beautiful. We are pretty sure that we were placed in the more exclusive part of the resort by accident. Instead of the “studio” we were supposed to have, we had a room with 3 beds, a kitchenette, dining area, living room, two bathrooms, and two balconies! We were pretty spoiled. I will attach some pictures to this post!
The most common question we’ve gotten so far is, “Was it hot?” The answer: it was hot, but not humid like it is here in Indiana. So, it probably felt cooler than it did here. The weather in the evening was perfect! The whole town is right on the water, so the breeze felt amazing. During the day, we cooled ourselves down in the pool(s)! There were seriously probably 7 or more different pools at the resort! One day, we rented a moped. That was so much fun! We cruised the town, stopped by the beach, and went to … WAL-MART! Yes, they had a Wal-Mart in this Mexican town. Oh, and a Sam’s Club, Costco, and Home Depot! We got a pretty good kick out of it. We also went to dinner at Sunset Pointe one night. It was a pizza lounge that was right on the beach and had a perfect view of the sunset. It was beautiful as well. Some other fun things we did included painting pottery at our resort {Check out the picture}, a photo shoot at our resort/beach, snorkeling, and walking the marina! It was definitely a memorable week!
Now, we are back in Washington for the week. We are splitting up our stay between our parents’ houses. On Saturday, we are moving into our apartment up in Lafayette. We are pretty excited about that! Zach is working through Thursday. I am done with work for the week, so I will spend my week at appointments, with friends, and working on projects for our apartment. I am sure the week will go quickly! I am going to attach some pictures to this post, and I will have Zach put the rest in the photo section! Our camera broke when we were there, so most of our pictures are on his phone.

Ties

We have ties! I was able to find some really cool striped ties in our color green for the groomsmen to wear. The ushers will be wearing the two-tone black striped ties. I also rented square toed kicks from Sieberts for the boys to wear. So suits are in, ties are tied, and shoes are reserved…. were ready! Only three weeks left folks… let’s get excited! Don’t forget to RSVP if you haven’t done so already.

Zach & Rachael Go To IKEA

Yesterday was Kara and Evan Potts wedding. It was beautiful and Rach enjoyed every bit of being involved in it. We are both so happy for them! Now we’re pretty ansy for our turn. Anyways, today we left after church for Cincinnati to spend the 4th with Rach’s family and her dad’s brother’s family. On our way, we went to IKEA!! It was my first time to go to one, and I must say I was pretty amazed! We got an end table, a coffee table, some bar stools, and a couple lamps all for about $90! We were both pretty excited about that!

We are officially “Licensed to Wed”! We went to the courthouse today during our lunch breaks and got our marriage license. It’s almost July!
